ALZHEIMER'S/MEMORY CARE
Along with providing daily living assistance and coordinating any necessary medical care, we are dedicated to addressing our residents’ cognitive needs.
Our unique program for caring for residents with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia is called Bridge to Rediscovery. This award-winning program, unique to Five Star Senior Living communities, helps each resident continue to engage in activities and with others.
Bridge to Rediscovery helps residents with memory loss rediscover skills and interests, and find joy in each day.
Using a Montessori-style approach, we help residents continue to feel valued and that they are contributing to the world around them. If a resident loves to garden, he or she can plant vegetables and flowers in the courtyard or grow an indoor plant. If someone was a teacher, they might teach a new game they’ve learned to a fellow resident. Instead of being defined by their disease, our residents are celebrated for who they are – artists, doctors, mothers, fathers – and who they will always be. Residents understand that they only need to be the best they can be, without having to compete for success.
Each staff member at The Forum at Lincoln Heights -- from the nurses to the dining staff -- receives training specifically in Alzheimer’s care and our Bridge to Rediscovery approach.
